Happy Holidays to everyone, and see you in 2024, which will undoubtedly be a very exciting year for our sector.
As in previous editions of the BIG Festival, Abragames will continue to be part of the curation of B2B content for gamescom LATAM, coordinating panels and presentations, and will be responsible for hosting some of the international guests at the 2024 event.
"Abragames will participate in gamescom LATAM 2024 with the aim of promoting the national game industry and creating business opportunities for national studios. In 2023, for example, at the BIG Festival, the association was responsible for over 40 hours of live content and brought 37 personalities from other countries to participate in the festival," says Rodrigo Terra, president of Abragames.
"Now, with the new gamescom LATAM, we will expand our participation even further and provide memorable moments for players, developers, executives, fans, enthusiasts, and other colleagues in the gaming industry," concludes the president of Abragames.
Gamescom LATAM will take place from June 26 to 30 at São Paulo Expo in São Paulo. The goal is for the event to become one of the largest business and launch platforms in the gaming industry worldwide. Abragames will offer full support to ensure the success of gamescom LATAM.
Google Playtime is a global initiative aimed at providing a space for the exchange of experiences, showcasing innovations, and engaging in in-depth discussions about the world of mobile gaming. On stage, we also had the distinguished presence of Filipe, representing Aoca, and Tulio Mendes, Director of Art and Creation at Glitch Factory. Their contributions further enriched the event, bringing valuable perspectives and sharing enriching experiences. "Playing for the Planet" is a global initiative aimed at mobilizing the electronic gaming industry to contribute positively to environmental sustainability. Launched in September 2019 during the UN Climate Summit, the initiative brings together leading companies in the gaming sector to combat climate change and promote sustainable practices. Recognizing the global reach of electronic games, the initiative seeks to leverage this influence to inspire positive environmental actions.
Recently, Playing for the Planet launched the Green Game Jam, a unique event challenging game studios to implement sustainable practices in their existing games. Instead of creating games from scratch in a short period, we invite developers to incorporate green initiatives into their current projects. Over four years, the Green Game Jam has achieved remarkable milestones, including the planting of over 2.5 million trees and the donation of $700,000 USD to support wildlife.
We believe that together we can make a difference, harnessing the creativity of the game development community to positively impact our planet. We strongly encourage Abragames' affiliated studios to join us in this sustainable effort. The starter kit is available on the Playing for the Planet website. The deadline for studio submissions is January 15, 2024.
