Kriophobia
Brazilian Survival Horror game, launches Steam page and teaser.
Kriophobia follows Anna’s story, a young geophysicist who goes to Zhokhov Island to investigate magnetic anomalies. Once there, she must face her deepest fears to survive not only Siberia's freezing temperatures, but also experiences beyond her comprehension.
In 2014, the game from Brazilian company Fira Soft was approved in the Steam Greenlight project, which allowed the player community to vote for games they wished to see available on the Steam platform. That same year, the company launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to fund the game’s development, which fell short of the fundraising goal.
Thus, the development of Kriophobia ended up being put on hold for further fundraising. Today, the game is financed by the public notice PRODAV 14/2017 by Ancine, FSA and BRDE. Currently, the development has resumed and the company is working on the game's release.
Kriophobia draws inspiration from classics of the Survival Horror genre and in the teaser, it is possible to identify some of these characteristics, while maintaining the innovative aspects that the genre offers.
Check out the game directly on Steam.

PIPA STUDIOS
How the process of creating an animation connects with the HR universe. A testimonial from Vanessa Gurgel, HR Director at Pipa Studios.
Recently, the movie "My Little Pony: A New Generation" was released on Netflix. This exciting animated film tells the story of a courageous and idealistic pony who decides to restore peace and bring the magic back to Equestria (the world of earth ponies, Pegasus and unicorns). So, what's the relationship between the My Little Pony and Pipa Studios, you may ask?
Well, Pablo Mayer, the Production Designer responsible for the whole look of the film, gave an exclusive talk to Pipeires and here’s the thing, his story with Pipa actually goes back to 2012, when together with our creative director, Diogo Cesar Correa, he created the visual identity for Praia Bingo.
During the talk, we got to find out a bit more about his life story, career development as an artist and hear some of the inherent challenges faced when producing and animating a film. Pablo offered up lots of helpful tips that apply to professionals from all areas. As an HR professional, I was especially struck by his description of the creative process that achieved the fantastic results we see in the film!
I’ll share, in my own words, the two skills that most caught my attention in this process to achieve extraordinary results: ·
In our exchange with Pablo, as well as learning so much about the world of ponies, I learned a little more about what happens behind the scenes in the world of art and the challenges art professionals face.I came out of the experience marveling at the creative power humans are capable of!

- Vulnerability: facing the challenge of reworking a classic is no walk in the park. I believe that presenting a sketch with your ideas before they are complete means being open to criticism and having the courage to question divergent opinions.
- Persistence: I understand illustration as a translation of something that is in the imagination (yours or somebody else’s). Reaching the final result can be demanding, it can take lots of discussion and require openness to discard ideas and recreate them in a new way.

GI 100: Game Changers
GamesIndustry.biz is looking to end the year by celebrating more individuals and organizations working to make gaming a better place.
GamesIndustry.biz is looking to celebrate the often unheralded people and organizations working to make the industry a better place.
For the unfamiliar, last year's Game Changers featured 100 individuals and groups working in the industry to help people through their efforts on diversity, accessibility, mental health, healthy community building, and more. They wanted to highlight people from every walk of life and in every corner of the world working to create a more inclusive and fair industry.
They do their best to find candidates that might ordinarily reside in their blind spots, reaching out to influential people throughout the industry for suggestions and nominations on who they think deserves to be celebrated for their work on this front. They did it again this year, trying to open up the pool of candidates a bit wider.
