EDITORIAL
February was the month of the Kidscreen Summit, a conference focused on the children's entertainment sector, which took place this year in San Diego and featured eight companies from the Brazil Games Project, a partnership between Abragames and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). Now, preparations have begun for the GDC, where the Brazil Games Project will be represented by approximately 50 studios from Brazil. The agenda promises to be incredible, and is available below. Also on the agenda is the gamescom latam/BIG Festival, which will take place for the first time in São Paulo and, as in previous editions, will be supported by Brazil Games.
NATIONAL GAME INDUSTRY SURVEY
Second Edition of the National Game Industry Survey is available
The survey conducted by Brazil Games and ApexBrasil reveals the current landscape of the Brazilian games industry.
The 2nd National Game Industry Survey, a collaboration between Abragames and ApexBrasil through the Brazil Games project, was launched. The report is a detailed study that provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of the Brazilian digital gaming industry, highlighting its growth, challenges, and achievements.
Among the main highlights, we highlight a significant increase of 3.2% in the total number of national studios, reaching a total of 1,042. Additionally, we recorded significant growth in the production of proprietary games, with 1,009 releases in 2022 alone, representing a 12% increase compared to the previous year. The growing maturity of the Brazilian industry is also reflected in other aspects, such as the increase in professionals in the sector, which grew by 6.3% compared to the previous year, totaling 13,225 individuals dedicated to game development across the country.
Furthermore, the survey reveals valuable insights into technological preferences, production capacity, and market trends, such as the growing interest in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and remote work. Abragames' proposal with this research is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current landscape of the gaming industry in Brazil, offering insights that can guide future strategies and further drive sector growth.
