The Largest Independent Games Festival in Latin America Announces its First Online Conference this June with the Full Festival to Return for Its 8th Year in January 2021
São Paulo – Brazil, April 9th, 2020 – BIG Festival (Brazil's Independent Games Festival), the largest independent games festival in Latin America, will have for the first time a fully online edition, which was named BIG Digital. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event organization opted to hold an online edition in 2020 with 5 days of business rounds and free lectures on the Brazilian games industry, from June 22nd to 26th.
The 8th full and presencial BIG Festival edition, bringing its usual three structuring pillars, games festival, lectures and face-to-face business rounds, has been rescheduled for January 2021. The event takes place from January 27th to 31st, 2021, at Frei Caneca Convention Center, in São Paulo.
"Our matchmaking tool, developed to book and hold presencial meetings, has been adapted for online meetings", explains Gustavo Steinberg, Director of BIG. Following the trend of major international game festivals, such as Pocket Gamer Connects Digital and GamesBeat Summit, BIG Digital takes place in 2020 with this new format. The online edition also meets the wishes of Brazilian and Latin American developers, who were lacking business networking opportunities due to the cancellation of part of the annual agenda of the industry.
"BIG Digital will be fundamental to help with the export of games and services from Brazilian game companies. Organizing meetings with publishers, buyers and international investors will be essential to guarantee the growth of the Brazilian game industry, even during this difficult moment that we are all going through. ", says Eliana Russi, executive manager of Brazil Games - the export program created by the Brazilian Independent Game Companies Association, ABRAGAMES, in partnership with Apex-Brasil, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.
BIG Digital takes place from 22nd to 26th June. In addition to business meetings, the event will also have online sessions on the Brazilian game industry. The complete program and the opening of registrations for both lectures and meetings will be announced shortly.
