Monday (Sep 20th), Brazil Games — the Brazilian Games Export Program — is thrilled to announce the first annual Brazilian Game Week. Set to take place from September 20th to 24th, 2021, Brazilian Game Week is a project developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil (Itamaraty), as a complementary action to Brazil Games, with the simultaneous participation of Brazilian Consulates and Embassies across more than 20 countries. The event will spread the word about the Brazilian video game industry’s impact at home and on the global stage. Since 2014, with the Brazil Games project, Abragames and Apex-Brasil have helped Brazil achieve much in the gaming landscape. Now, with the Brazilian Game Week, Brazil takes the opportunity to show the world what it has accomplished and how it can emerge as a leading innovator in the global industry. Throughout five days, a different aspect of the Brazilian video game industry will be presented, with related content posted on webpages specifically designed for the project and promoted via the Embassies' and Consulates' social media. Not only is that the great true, we will have 3 companies of our own presenting on Panels and Round Table as guest speakers. So come check our delegations and enjoy the greatness they have to offer. SPEAKERS @XDS 21 | ADAPT ![]() Speaker: Rodrigo Carneiro, CEO @PUGA Studios Panel: Getting Noticed as a Small Vendor It can be difficult to stand out among all the large vendors in our industry. How do you get noticed? What do development studios want to see? How do you prepare for shows like XDS? Join us as we discuss the best practices and strategies to use when approaching a large development studio for work or when entering the industry as a new vendor. Hear from both, the vendor and developer side as we discuss our thoughts and experiences. Our goal is to share knowledge and to help young vendors grow in order to keep this industry as healthy as possible. Date: Tuesday, Sept 14 @15.30 (PST) The panel also includes: Jesse Sosa, Outsourcing Manager @Gearbox Software Brian Burleson, Managing Director of Production @Gearbox Software Walter de Torres, Founding Partner @Pixel Mafia Colby Acree, Outsourcing Department Head @WB Games, Avalanche Speakers: Erica Ferrer, Business Developer and Túlio Caraciolo, Producer @Manifesto Games Panel: Growing A Remote LiveOps Engineering Team For Ubisoft’s Growtopia When externalizing live operations, transition and/or integration of teams should be done right from the start, to mitigate the risks of negative impacts on a live audience. Ubisoft and Manifesto share in this session the framework they have established, best practices – including a no-email communication, and their experience on growing the engineering live ops team of Growtopia! Although art outsourcing is common in our industry, many studios are still reluctant to work with 3rd party engineers – and even more if both teams (internal and external) should work together in the same code. The bright side is that the long-term relationship of continuous work, with the right tools and processes, should allow teams to overcome challenges. Date: Thursday, Sept 16th @10.30AM (PST) The panel also include Nazir Rashid, Producer @Ubisoft Emirates. ![]() Speaker: Aberto Lopes, VP of Production @Kokku Panel: Help Us Help You: Best Practices From RFP To Sign OffWhile it may be said that the client is king, true leadership involves setting teams up for success by enabling them to perform without having to face needless obstacles. Developers may inadvertently hinder their external partners through inefficient communication and processes, while making infeasible demands and setting unrealistic standards. This can result in partners delivering less than their true potential in delivery time, cost and quality. A publisher has invited several panellists to the stage, representing companies providing a variety of services, each with a unique cultural background, focus, scope and perspective. She will ask them to share best practices that she, and other publishers & developers, can engage in to improve the seller-buyer relationship from RFP to sign off, to support their partners in delivering their best work effectively, efficiently, healthily and sustainably. Date: Friday, Sept 17th @10.30AM (PST) With him on stage you will find Juney Dijkstra, Legacy Portfolio Manager @Paradox Interactive, Blandine Prost, Client Partner @Keywords Studios and Andrii Titov, CTO @Stepico Games All the sessions will have Q&A! Enjoy!
